Russian peacekeeper wounded by explosion in Karabakh

An officer of the Russian peacekeeping forces was wounded in a mine explosion in Nagorno-Karabakh while searching for the dead. As a result of the  explosion of ammunition, an officer of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces died, four representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic were injured,  the Russian  Ministry of Defense reported.

YEREVAN, November 23. /ARKA/. An officer of the Russian peacekeeping forces was wounded in a mine explosion in Nagorno-Karabakh while searching for the dead. As a result of the  explosion of ammunition, an officer of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces died, four representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic were injured,  the Russian  Ministry of Defense reported.

According to the ministry, on November 23, a joint group for the exchange of bodies of dead servicemen, consisting of representatives of the peacekeepers of the Russian Federation, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and the International Committee of the Red Cross, searched for the dead in the Terter region.

"In the area of Mataghis settlement  a mine exploded during the work. As a result of the explosion, an officer of the Russian contingent of peacekeeping forces was injured. One officer of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan was killed and four  employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Nagorno-Karabakh were injured," the Defense Ministry said.

The Russian serviceman was taken to a hospital in the city of Baku, where he is provided with the necessary medical assistance. There is no threat to life. -0-
